A lifted, mineral and finely structured single-vineyard Barbaresco from Montefico: sage, mint, orange peel, chalk and red fruit over beautifully poised tannins.

THE GRAPE
100% Nebbiolo from the Montefico cru in Barbaresco, specifically the Bric Mentina vineyard. The vines average around thirty years of age and grow on calcareous limestone soils with sandy veins, giving the wine its high-toned aromatics, chalky tension and remarkable precision.

THE WINE
Montefico is Ca’ Nova’s more mineral and aromatic Barbaresco. The 2022 shows bright red cherry and raspberry fruit, then expands into sage, mint, chalk, white pepper, orange peel and a subtle floral lift. The palate is focused and vertical, with firm but refined tannins, excellent freshness and a long saline finish. Despite being from a warmer year, it retains impressive balance and elegance—a Barbaresco that feels cool, precise and quietly cerebral.

FOOD PAIRING
Porcini, braised rabbit or mature Castelmagno. Give it a generous decant and serve with food that has the same tension and refinement.

THE WINEMAKER
La Ca’ Nova is a family-run estate in Barbaresco, farming around fourteen hectares across the village’s most important Nebbiolo sites, Their winemaking is quietly traditional: hand-harvested grapes, spontaneous fermentations, careful maceration and long maturation in large oak. Bric Mentina is named in memory of Marco’s grandmother Clementina, making this more than a single-vineyard Barbaresco—it is a family marker.
