THE GRAPE
100% Nebbiolo from Viberti’s vineyards inLa Morra. The 2021 vintage gives the grape a particularly expressive balance of ripe red fruit, freshness and structured tannins—the classic ingredients for a Barolo that can develop beautifully in bottle.
THE WINE
This is Barolo with both charm and backbone. The nose opens with raspberry, redcurrant and cherry, then moves towards dried flowers, lemongrass, spice, leather and a touch of wild game. On the palate, it is fresh and medium-bodied, with soft but persistent tannins, balanced acidity and a savoury finish that keeps the wine moving. It is already showing well, but there is enough structure to carry it for at least another decade.
FOOD PAIRING
Vitello tonnato, pasta with ragù, roast veal, braised beef, wild game, salumi and mature Piemonte cheeses.
THE WINEMAKER
The Viberti family has been making wine in the Langhe since 1923, with the estate’s roots in the historic Locanda del Buon Padre. Their wines combine traditional Barolo patience with a clear sense of place, and this 2021 captures La Morra’s generous fruit, freshness and elegant tannic shape.
