Vinzas Artas NIGHEDDU Barbagia Rosso IGT, 2020 – Sardegna
THE GRAPE
Cannonau.
THE WINE
This wine derives its name from the specific ghirada or Cru that the grapes are harvested from. Following the philosophy central to the winemaking tradition of the small village of Mamoiada, Vinzas Artas focus on bringing attention to the individual characteristics of each plot of their vineyards. These are all tended organically with an emphasis on quality and small yields.
A 100% Cannonau, the grapes are femented for 12 months in oak barrels before 12 months in bottle before release. The characteristics typical of Cannonau, full bodied and fruit forward, are softened in this cuvée. A ruby red colour in the glass with violent hints, the nose is characterised by lively red fruits and subtle undertones of dried thyme. In the mouth, the wine is elegant with a good persistency. Fruits and spices combine to create an exceptional wine that we would pair with a good plate of aged cheese or a rich meaty stew.
