Franco Rocca Cantina Del Brichetto BARBERA D'ALBA BRICCO STERPONE (2019), Franco Rocca - Piemonte
THE GRAPE
Barbera d'Alba
THE WINE
Fundamental to this Barbera d’Alba is Franco Rocca’s belief that Barbera should undergo long ageing in barrels to best express its characteristics. Grapes harvested from the historic vineyard of Bricco Sterpone planted by his grandfather remain in French Oak Barrels for 28 months. Yet, Franco is always careful to ensure that the oak does not overpower the predominant fruit elements of the wine but instead contributes to its intensity.
A very expressive style of Barbera needs a bit of time to open up, and we recommend decanting it. Dark fruits, violets & spicy notes on the nose. This warm, full-bodied and elegant wine can be drunk now or held for up to10 years.
THE PAIRING
We recommend pairing it with barbecued meats and creamy risotto.
