“Pietro” Gattinara DOCG, Paride Iaretti (2015) - Piemonte
Grape : Nebbiolo.
The roots of the Gattinara Nebbiolo vines lie in volcanic soils from a supervolcano that was active 250-300 million years ago and its crater measured over 20km. The soils are rich in iron. The Gattinara flavor is austere, mineral and has incredibly fine aromas. Bouquet of roses and violets, dried fruits and spices. On the palate, dry and austere, with soft tannins. Anticipated aging 15 years and more. Pairs well with venison, red meats and cheeses. Aged for 24 months in 500 liter French Oak Casks from which the wine acquires its fragrances and that elegance then further refining in the bottle.
Food Pairing : Pairs well with venison, red meats and cheeses.
