The only Barolo from Cherasco, made by a Marchese whose family has been here since the 13th century.

THE GRAPE
100% Nebbiolo from Cherasco, one of the eleven Barolo communes. Here the grape leans perfumed: raspberry, wild flowers and a bright sour-cherry edge.

THE WINE
Lustrous ruby with orange reflections. Sour cherry, raspberry and dried flowers, with leather, pipe tobacco and a touch of menthol. Large oak keeps the fruit in front, and the tannins are firm but fine. Lovely with a decant now, better still with a few more years.

FOOD PAIRING
Tajarin with white truffle, braised beef, wild mushroom risotto, aged Castelmagno. Decant an hour ahead, serve at 16-18°C.

THE WINEMAKER
Marchese Umberto Fracassi Ratti Mentone belongs to a noble family rooted in Cherasco since the 13th century, with cellar labels dating back to the late 1800s. He is the only producer making Barolo in Cherasco, working the traditional way with large oak and no trends, and rarely seen outside his own cellar.
