THE GRAPES
90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo Nero, 5% Colorino from hillside vineyards in San Donato in Poggio (Chianti Classico), selected for aging potential on galestro soils.

THE WINE
Intense ruby red. Aromas of morello cherry, wild strawberry, blueberry, geranium, humus, and aromatic herbs. Fresh, savory palate reprises the fruit with warm expression, balanced tannic structure, and good persistence. Fermented 18-20 days in stainless steel tronco-conical tanks, aged 12 months in 50hl Slavonian oak botti + 3 months bottle. 14% ABV.

FOOD PAIRING
Chianti pairs brilliantly with tomato sauces, pizza and pasta bakes such as lasagne but it’s also a great wine with a simple grill or roast or even a burger.

THE WINEMAKER
Castello di Monsanto, Chianti pioneers since 1969 and first to bottle single-vineyard Chianti Classico ("Il Poggio"). Current owner Laura Bianchi continues Fabrizio Bianchi's legacy of terroir-driven Sangiovese from organic vineyards, blending tradition and precision for benchmark Riserva elegance.
