Barolo “Mantoetto” DOCG ((2016) Umberto Fracassi - Piemonte (Cherasco)
Grape : Nebbiolo.
The nose offers power. It reveals notes of grey pepper, red berries, small notes of dry violet associated with fine hints of local copse. The palate is fruity, mineral and offers freshness, a juicy/finely acidulous frame and fat. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy plum, small notes of small red berries associated with fine touches of rose, violet as well as hints of liquorice, vanilla and chocolat. Good persistence.
Food pairing : Truffle dishes like traditional tajarin pasta with rich mountain butter, fonduta of strong cheeses, even fried egg with a runny yolk – shaved liberally with decadent Alba White Truffle. Barolo cheese pairing ideas include strong cheeses like Castelmagno DOP or Gorgonzola.
