The darker, deeper side of Barbaresco: black cherry, blackberry, violet, mint and smoky minerals over concentrated but finely managed tannins. This is the single-vineyard Barbaresco built for those who like Nebbiolo with muscle and mystery.

THE GRAPE
100% Nebbiolo from the south-facing Montestefano cru in Barbaresco. The site gives the wine its richness, depth and dark-fruited intensity, while Ca’ Nova’s traditional ageing in large oak keeps the expression rooted in the vineyard rather than in oak.

THE WINE
Montestefano is the brooding one. Deep garnet in colour, it offers black cherry, ripe raspberry, blackberry, violet, mint, liquorice, leather and smoky mineral notes. The palate is broad and concentrated, but the tannins remain fine and well-controlled, carrying a long finish of dark fruit, spice and graphite. More serious and structured than Montefico.

FOOD PAIRING
Brasato al Barolo, beef cheek, roasted duck, wild boar ragù, porcini, truffle pasta or aged Barolo cheese. Decant for a couple of hours and serve with something equally serious.
