Conterno Fantino Barolo MOSCONI "Vigna Ped" DOCG (2019) - Piemonte
THE GRAPE
Nebbiolo.
Conterno-Fantino winery was born from a union between two historical families of the area who have now established themselves among the best Barolo producers.
THE WINE
Vigna Ped is located on the historic Mosconi hill (in the Mosconi district) The vines date from 1950 and produce intensely flavorful grapes with exceptional structure. First produced in 2004, the vineyard’s soil is rich in clay and manganese which contributes a powdery mineral note to the grapes. The wine from this vineyard is all about power, structure, freshness and elegance and stands up to long cellaring. Like Sori Ginestra, the soil is rich in clay and limestone and relatively compact. Because of this, this Barolo is assertive, masculine and structured, and has noticeable acidity due to the elevation. It was aged for 2 years in French barriques.
THE PAIRING
This wine is the perfect accompaniment for roasts and braised meat. It is excellent with fondue with truffles and parmesan cheese.
