Nebbiolo.

The Benevelli holds are in the Monforte d'Alba which is on Serrvallian Soil. All the Barolos from Serrvallian have firm tannins and the most potent structure, full of spices and intensity. Benevelli makes three Barolo Crus : Mosconi, Le Coste di Monforte and Ravera di Monforte.

The Wine
The Le Coste di Monforte vineyard was added to the fleet of Crus from this producer in 2015. It's 2.5 ha and has a south-west facing aspect, on the hillside to the west of Ravera di Monforte. This cru is the most aromatic of the three that Benevelli produces, and these relatively young vines pump out ripe, plush fruit with a high level of flavour intensity.

It's perfect for lovers of bigger-boned Barolo.

Ripe cherry, floral perfume, baking spice, liquorice with firm and fleshy, lavish sweet cherry and spice, black fruits, red flowers, and lovely hints of liquorice and cedar on the nose. The palate is red-fruited and concentrated, with a medium body but a silky mouthfeel. It opens with a refined expression of Smooth, subtle, and elegant attack, followed by great flavours of plums, mellow but crunchy tannins, and good acidity. Powerful, but energetic is probably an excellent way to summarise.

Built for 20y and longer ageing, but approachable young with aeration. 10,000 bottles are produced annually.
