THE GRAPE
Nebbiolo.

The Barbaresco denomination of origin area has many different crus, and Tre Stelle and Rio Sordo are among the most prestigious.

Tre Stelle and Rio Sordo produce fruits with different characteristics, partly due to the different soil compositions of the vineyards.
Tre Stelle sits on predominantly limestone soils, while Rio Sordo vineyards have a higher percentage of clay. The presence of clay leads to an expression of Nebbiolo with more muscular (a characteristic commonly attributed to wines grown on clay soils) and earthy characteristics.

THE WINE
Cascina Delle Rose's signature is an elegant, ultra-fine take on Barbaresco. But, for us, Rio Sordo captures a more austere and bold style.
Substantial tannins with a structured body. Bouquet of red berry, earthy, truffles, jam, tar, roses and emerging mint. Beautiful acidity. Tasting notes: expect richness, boldness, a touch of iron mixed with orange peel, pepper, truffle, rose, liquorice, mint and some baking spices, sleek with a strong personality. Complex, woody, and earthy.Very concentrated. It can sit for another ten years (if you can wait that long!)
