The "Master" Olive Oil box
Liquid Gold. That may be quite a statement, but it is a term first used by Homer to describe Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) nearly 3,000 years ago. Of course such a description has more than a hint of artistic license, but it is a reflection of the high esteem in which EVOO is held across Italy. It is to a certain extent the basis of Italian cooking. For every sofrito, pasta sauce, fritto misto and even a simple tomato salad would not be the same without EVOO. Damn, even a slice of bread isn’t the same without EVOO and salt, especially when it is the terrible bread that is Pane Toscana.
