Taurasi Riserva DOCG (2010) – Campania
THE GRAPE
Aglianico
THE WINE
Michele Perillo's Taurasi Riserva showcases the full potential of Aglianico, especially its remarkable aging capacity. This wine seems to gaze into a distant future, promising an evolution that stretches far ahead. Perillo masterfully amplifies this natural evolution, creating a truly extraordinary wine.
Crafted from old vines selected through massal selection, the grapes yield small, loosely packed berries with a harvest of fewer than 50 quintals per hectare. For this Riserva, Perillo uses slightly overripe grapes, fermented partly in steel and partly in wood. The wine is then aged for 20 months in barrels and barriques, followed by extensive bottle ageing before release.
The Taurasi Riserva reveals a deep ruby-red color. Its aroma is rich and complex, shifting from ripe fruit to leather and forest floor notes, all characterized by an astonishing olfactory finesse. The scent alone is an experience, captivating and surprising.
