Casaretti BROL di Calmasino IGT (2021) - Veneto
THE GRAPE
90% Garganega 10% Cortese
THE WINE
This Brol di Calmasino offers a striking golden yellow color with a brilliant yellow-green hue. On the nose, it delivers a pleasant and complex bouquet with fruity and vegetal notes, including citrus, elderflower, and almond. The palate is intense with a vibrant acidity that carries the wine’s fruit-forward flavors, making it clean and lively.
The wine is produced through a careful process: the grapes undergo maceration and soft pressing, and the resulting must ferments in 500-liter tonneaux. The maturation process is split between wood and cement, with regular bâttonnage(stirring of the lees), and the wine is aged for three months in the bottle to enhance its freshness and complexity. This white wine has a clean, linear mouthfeel, offering great freshness and good persistence on the palate.
THE WINERY
Cantina Casaretti has been producing wine since 1911, creating wines from the typical grape varieties of the Veronese region. Known for their consistent quality, Casaretti focuses on producing wines that are both authentic and refined. The winery emphasizes traditional winemaking techniques while adapting to modern practices.
THE FOOD PAIRING
The Brol di Calmasino pairs perfectly with seafood dishes. It is particularly great with fish-based pasta and risottos, such as Venere rice with shrimp and zucchini or risotto with scampi. It also complements the classic spaghetti allo scoglio (spaghetti with seafood). Its refreshing and vibrant acidity makes it a versatile choice for many seafood options.
