Teularju GHIRADA OCRUARANA Barbagia Rosso IGT, 2019 – Sardegna

A focus on micro terroir characterises the wines of Teularju. Their wines are named by the Ghirada or Cru that they originate from and this is no exception. The Ghirada Ocruarana gets its name from the local term for the green metamorphic stone that interleaves within the sandy, granitic soil. The Ghirada comprises 2 hectares with a north-westerly exposure on a slight incline. 

As 100% Cannonau, intensity is only to be expected. Earthy notes dominate, as too do elements of balsamic and mature stone fruits. Equally intoxicating are the notes of black pepper and thyme. On the finish, there is a hint of cherry stones all the while held up by balanced tannins. An elegance pervades as reflected in the deliberate choice of a Burgundian bottle form to encapsulate this fascinating wine.
