The Grape
Nebbiolo.

The Benevelli holds are in the Monforte d'Alba which is on Serrvallian Soil. All the Barolos from Serrvallian have firm tannins and the most potent structure, full of spices and intensity.

Benevelli makes three Barolo Crus : Mosconi, Le Coste di Monforte and Ravera di Monforte.

The Wine
The grapes of the Ravera di Monforte cru come from 2 ha of vineyards on the east-facing hillside. With blue marl soil, this vineyard has an attractive micro-climate with the warm climate under being at the southern boundary of Barolo counteracted by the 400m+ elevation and exposure to the wind and cool air from Alta Langa to the south. The resulting wine does not taste like a product from a warm climate, but a redder fruited and focussed wine with energy, elegance, and medium body.

A maximum of 4,800 bottles produced annually.

Beautiful classic Barolo nose, intense depth of black cherry, liquorice, brown spices yet fresh and complex in the mouth with a superb finish! Full-bodied, fresh, balanced, persistent and complex. A Masterpiece of Nebbiolo from the distinctive Ravera Cru in Monforte d’Alba.

It was aged in second-passage barriques for one year, then in 10-year-old oak Botti for 15 months.

All the processing in the vineyard is carried out with the utmost respect for the land—no use of herbicides.
