Grape: Pignolo.

Of all of the long-cultivated varieties, Pignolo is, without doubt, the most prestigious and refined native Friuli variety and is on the way to extinction. No of easy cultivation made only in the best years.

THE WINE

It is a highly distinctive wine; in its shy, mysterious taste, the flavour is almost hidden, as though it is fearful of being discovered. Elegant in body, fruity and reserved, the bottle opens with an inviting bouquet of outstanding complexity black pepper, leather, forest flors, wet leaves, tobacco, dried blackberry, toast, liquorice, preserved fruit, medicinal, blackcurrant, black cherry, blackberry, violet, plum.
Dry, high acidity, elegantly bodied and softly tannic. Give it time as it's been in the bottle for a long time.
Perfect for conosseaurs ..

FOOD PAIRING

Oxtail ragu, fillet or beef with Porcini mushrooms, polenta with meat, grilled meat.

THE WINERY

Located in Farra d’Isonzo, an outpost of the Collio Goriziano, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the BRESSAN winery is quite unique. In today's turbulent ocean of quick industrial fixes and shortcuts, BRESSAN Mastri Vinai is a philosophical lighthouse, and Fulvio Bressan is an unmissable character.

He is passionate about life and winemaking and lives life on his terms. He is opinionated but at the same time has logical reasons for his viewpoints.

Fulvio studied in France, Bordeaux, with the director of Margaux, his mentor.
